Stevie has taken two weapons with him to Hell: a Sword and a Gun. In Hell, Stevie will find several spells which he can use as weapons. These include the Fireball und the Lightning Spell. A successful hit or shot will yield different amounts of points for Stevie. Stevie will get the following points per hit:
Sword: 100 points
Gun: 50 points
Fireball: 25 points
Lightning: 10 points
It might be a lot easier to defeat your enemies with a gun shot or a fireball but if you are chasing a new record in the Highscore List you should preferably opt for swordplay.
The weakest weapon in Stevie’s arsenal is the Sword, the most powerful one is the Lightining Spell. The weapons can also have varying effects on the enemies. Hence, a fireball is normally stronger than a bullet from a gun. However, as might be expected, fire naturally tends to be less effective against a fire dragon.
Stevie can fight in any situation except when certain spells are active. Fighting is possible while standing, running, crouching, jumping and on a ladder. In order to hit or shoot in a particular direction the relevant directional key (arrow key) needs to be pressed.
Here are some examples:
To attack while standing press the relevant directional key, i.e. up ↑, left ← or right → and the attack key (default key is Space).
Attacking while running is possible to the running direction or to an upward direction. That is done by keeping the directional key for running pressed while pressing the attack key. If you want to shoot or hit upwards while running press the ’up’ key ↑ and attack key simultaneously when you are running.
If you intend to attack when crouching you have to keep the ’down’ directional key ↓ pressed and then press the attack key.
You can select your weapons either in the inventory or by using the weapon keys 1 to 5. The default keyboard settings are as follows:
1 = Sword
2 = Gun
3 = Fireball
4 = Lighting
5 = Most Recent Spell
Fireball and Lightning are only available once you have obtained those spells. In addition, you will need ammunition for the Gun, Fireball and Lightning, which you can collect in the levels.
You can select the most recently used spell in the inventory by pressing 5.
As mentioned above, the relevant spell is needed in order to use a Fireball and a Lightning Flash. Once these spells have been obtained you will also need to load them with approppriate ammunition.
Ammunition for Gun, Fireball and Lightning can be found in various places in all levels. It has partly been placed in very obvious locations, partly in remote corners and partly in secret passages, too. Thoroughly exploring the levels and trying to find secret passages will give you a good chance of having sufficient ammunition and then you might need to use the sword only very rarely. Every collected packet of ammunition provides 5 shots. Collecting the Fireball and Lightning spells for the first time provides 25 shots for each of those spells.
